Punk Goes ... ?

Punk Goes... is a series of compilations albums in which various punk rock, post-hardcore, hardcore, emocore and metalcore bands perform cover songs from other genres or time periods. It is released by Fearless Records. The only exceptions are Punk Goes Acoustic and Punk Goes Acoustic 2 in which the featured bands recorded acoustic versions of their own songs.

Fearless Records recently announced that the newest release from the Punk Goes... series will feature covers of classic rock songs. A few artists who are expected to contribute in the new release are: nevershoutnever! who stated that they're doing a cover of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" for the Punk Goes Classic Rock album. Another expected band is Every Avenue. Two of its members stated on their Twitter accounts that they are recording a song for the album. The pop punk band, Mayday Parade and the post-hardcore band Pierce the Veil also stated on their Twitter accounts that they are recording songs for the new release. One more band who is rumoured to be on the album is A Skilit Drive. Their Vocalist stated on his Facebook fan page that they "might" be on the next Punk Goes... installment.

My favorite album of the series by far is the Punk Goes Pop 2 release. It was released on March 10, 2009 and it features a lot of great bands such as Alesana, Mayday Parade, Escape the Fate, August Burns Red, etc. Here is one great song of the album. It is a cover of Britney Spears' song Toxic, performed by A Static Lullaby. Enjoy =]

Two New Amazing Bands

In this picture, there are most of the themes I've talked about in my blog. An that's mainly post-hardcore bands and albums. Today's post won't be much different. I'm gonna talk about two new bands that I recently found. They both have a very significant sound and are very good.

The first band is called We Butter The Bread With Butter. They're a Geramn duo, who have a very strange style. They have brutal deathcore vocals, which are accompanied by electronic music. They were formed in 2007, by Marcel Neumann, who was originally the guitarist in Martin Kesici's band. Their debut album Das Monster aus dem Schrank was released on November 21, 2008 through Redfield Records. Here is my favorite song by them.. Enjoy ;)

The second band, which I am going to talk about today, is The Color Morale. They are a 5 piece melodic post-hardcore/metalcore band from Rockford, IL. Their debut album We All Have Demons was released earlier this year. They recently signed to Rise Records and are now touring the USA. Here is my favorite song by them. Enjoy :)

LoveHateHero

Today I'll talk about another awesome band - LoveHateHero. They are signed to Ferret Records and have released three albums, Just Breathe in May 2005, and White Lies in February 2007 and recently, America Underwater.
Their first album, Just Breathe was recorded with later Escape The Fate's (2005-2007) and Perfect Like Me's (2007-2009) rhythm guitarist, Omar Espinosa.
Their second album White Lies had a great sound and was considered by most people the best post-hardcore album of 2007. It sold over 20,000 copies in the U.S. and drew the attention of magazines like Alternative Press and Outburn.
“I think we concentrated more on songwriting and the material, what the songs are about,” singer Pierrick Berube explaines about the new album, America Underwater. “We wanted everything to be a complete song instead of just parts that shredded or were heavy. We didn’t want each song to be random riffs, we wrote complete songs that are just good songs. We simplified it but opened it up with vocal harmonies and music melodies in a way that we could have more fun.” The new album's sound has nothing in common with the last two. They totally changed their style, and I think they became too mainstream and poppy. I still like their new album, though, but the previous ones were way better.

And here is my favorite song by them called "I'll Make It To Brigades" from the White Lies album. Enjoy! =)

My Top 5 Albums of 2009

I think 2009 is the golden year of post-hardcore. A lot of amazing albums were released and many new awesome bands were formed. Here are my overall top 5 post-hardcore albums for this year:

#5 Blessthefall - Witness
Witness is the second full-length studio album by blessthefall. It was released on October 6, 2009, through Fearless Records. It is the band's first album with singer Beau Bokan. The lyrics in Witness are way better than in their last album.

#4 In Fear And Faith - Your World on Fire
Your World on Fire is In Fear and Faith's first release since signing with Rise Records, as well as being their first full-length album. It was released on January 6, 2009 and contained several tracks from their "Voyage" EP.

#3 A Day To Remember - Homesick
Homesick is the third album by American post-hardcore band A Day to Remember. It was released on February 2, 2009 in Europe and February 3, 2009 in the United States and as of February 21, it sold over 22, 000 copies in its first week.

#2 The Devil Wears Prada - With Roots Above And Branches Below
With Roots Above and Branches Below is the third studio album by American christian metalcore/post-hardcore band The Devil Wears Prada. The album was released on May 5, 2009 through Ferret Music. It reached #1 in US Top Christian Albums.

#1 Adept - Another Year Of Disaster
Another Year of Disaster is the debut album by Swedish post-hardcore band Adept, released on February 4, 2009. Most of the songs from this album are about a girl, who the lead singer possibly hates. :D The songs are very melodic and have amazing lyrics!! It's by far the best album for 2009!!

Escape the Fate

My previous post was about my favorite band - blessthefall. This one will be about my 2nd favorite band - Escape the Fate :). Escape the Fate also has only 2 full-length albums. The first one of which is named "Dying is your Latest Fashion," and was recorded with their former vocalist Ronnie Radke, who was unable to continue touring with the band because he was put on probation for participating in a fight in which a boy was murdered, so he had to leave the band, and Escape the Fate started looking for a new vocalist, and found Craig Mabbitt (ex- blessthefall). Radke was later put in jail, for possesion of drugs, and is getting out this December and will start recording with his new band - Falling in Reverse.
There are rumors that Escape the Fate will be releasing a new song next month, and a new album, springtime 2010. Can't wait!!! Here's my favorite ever!! Not just by them, but in general.. I love it! :)

blessthefall now and then..

Blessthefall is my all-time favorite band. They have only two full-length albums, the second of which was released only 9 days ago with their new vocalist - Beau Bokan. I liked them better before, but they are still awesome. Their live performance is outrageous!

Their first full-length album was released in the year of 2007. It is called "His Last Walk" and is recorded with their former vocalist - Craig Mabbitt, who is now in a band called "Escape the Fate" which also rocks. Mabbitt left blessthefall in the middle of a tour in 2008 due to personal rasons, and when he returned to the band, the other members decided to move on without him. Their bassist, Jared Warth, filled in the vocals for the remainder of the tour. In may 2008, Mabbitt joined Escape the Fate, and in september the same year, blessthefall announced that they had chosen a new lead singer, Beau Bokan, after months of searching.

Bokan was the former lead singer of a band called "Take the Crown" who released one album in 2008 before disbanding. The new blessthefall album, released on october 6th this year is called "Witness." It has a less hardcore sound than "His Last Walk."

Here is one of my favorite songs by them from His Last Walk, called Higinia.. Enjoy :)
